To veteran hotelier and Hotel Maya general manager Teekay Goh, one of the main criteria of success for any given hotel is the commitment from its owner and the empowerment bestowed upon the management.
In this light, he is extremely grateful that the owner of Hotel Maya, Selangor Dredging Berhad (SDB), has continuously invested in its upkeep in the best interests of guests and all concerned.
“SDB continues to invest in our facilities and offerings so that visitors and guests have truly memorable stays right at the heart of Kuala Lumpur,” said Goh, adding that the hotel recently upgraded some rooms and other amenities to make them more conducive to guests.
Hotel Maya prides itself to be a 5-star ‘boutique urban resort’ in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. A stone’s throw away from the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC), the hotel offers spacious rooms and suites, spa, trendy food & beverage outlets and many other facilities that make up the total Maya experience.
“What is more, once guests check in, they are taken into a whole new world of ‘resort-in-a-city’ lifestyle where the intention is for their senses to be truly transported to exotic realms,” said Goh.
“In all of our rooms, we have taken a step forward to ensure our guests have access to clean, sterilized air by equipping it with a unit of Medklinn Air Sterilizer.”
The sterilizer uses the latest in Cerafusion Technology, which produces massive amounts of negative ions that effectively remove airborne pollution, particles and odours.
“The ions in the air sterilizer, furthermore, destroys both harmful surface-bound and airborne micro-organisms such as bacteria, viruses and moulds, leaving rooms with clean and fresh air. Many users find the abundance of negative ions in the room, help them sleep more soundly.”
In addition, to complement the DVD players that are available in all rooms and suites, guests have complimentary access to the hotel’s extensive DVD movie library.
“We house more than 200 titles ranging from classics, animation, comedy right up to the latest blockbuster movies,” said Goh.
He added that the hotel’s F&B outlets offer tantalising cuisines that are second to none. In addition, the hotel also has a service of offering a “personal chef in your suite”.
“For special occasions or for a more intimate meal, Hotel Maya introduces a personal chef service in the comfort of your suite,” said Goh.
“Dinner is specially brought up to your suite, and our chef will personally prepare and plate your meal. Your personal chef is able to prepare sosaku or modern Japanese cuisine from Still Waters, or delectable Malay cuisine from Maya Brasserie,” he said, adding that bookings however need to be made three days in advance.
When asked about the hotel’s occupancy rate, Goh said that it is on the rise with the hotel being extremely popular with both corporates and leisure guests from Europe, Singapore, Indonesia and China.
