Homegrown e-commerce ecosystem player Vettons is aiming to redefine the e-commerce ecosystem in Malaysia for the greater good of the industry.

Its Head of Product Acacia Lee emphasised that Vettons’ mission is “to enable an e-commerce ecosystem whereby digital technologies are humanised for the benefit of consumers and merchants”.

“While e-commerce has been around for the past two decades, the industry has now arrived at ‘the age of personalisation’,” she said, adding that customers today are more discerning and demanding.

She also believes that a new generation of ‘smarter shoppers’ has emerged as a result of the movement control order (MCO).

“Hence, we need to continuously ensure high levels of customer satisfaction, which is why it is critical to employ the latest technologies and humanise them for greater speed and agility.”

“Vettons is a fully Malaysian company, and we are on a mission to support local initiatives while providing gainful employment for Malaysians,” she said, adding that the company today has close to 200 employees.

She was speaking at the launch of the Vettons’ ‘Shopping Made Smarter’ launch aired on its Facebook page last evening (7/7/2020).

Making its public appearance for the first time was Zoni, Vettons’ AI (artificial intelligence) ‘smart shopping’ companion, alongside performances by Shila Amzah and Yuna. The event was hosted by Alif Satar.

Meanwhile, Vettons Head of Marketplace Derek Ng said that, over the past year, Vettons has been creating and fine-tuning the various components of its e-commerce ecosystem.

“We also have an initiative to incentivise merchants on the Vettons platform for we believe in creating win-win situations for both consumers and merchants,” shared Ng.

“Vettons also has a platform for brands to maintain control and integrity, while enabling them to conduct target marketing and product data analytics,” he further said, adding that products sold on Vettons are genuine, with a strict policy against counterfeits.

Asia-Pacific CIO Outlook magazine of the Silicon Valley, United States recently recognised Vettons as one of the region’s “e-commerce companies of the year”.
