EY Malaysia, in collaboration with SAP and Digital Penang, recently launched the EY Young Technology Professional Challenge (YTPC) 2022.

The competition opens its doors to Malaysian undergraduates and postgraduates who are enrolled in both local and foreign universities, who are in their penultimate and final year of study.

This team-based challenge aims to inculcate awareness among Malaysian students on how to apply enterprise technology in a real business environment; cultivate a culture of innovation and growth in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) workforce; and build and support a network of young technologists.

Tan Boon Yow, EY Asean Technology Consulting Leader said, “Being at the forefront of the digital transformation evolution, EY has and continues to play a significant role in helping organizations in Malaysia and Asean, both conventional and new, to transform their businesses through the power of people, technology and innovation. The EY Young Technology Professional Challenge extends our reach beyond organizations, allowing us to help build a better working world for our youth, so that they can actively participate, thrive and reap the benefits of technology and digitalization.”

Cynthia Quah, SAP Malaysia Interim Managing Director said, “Public, private, and plural partnerships are crucial in bridging and closing Malaysia’s digital literacy and skills gap. Businesses, governments, and communities need to collaborate to empower Malaysians with the relevant digital skills such as data analytics and management. This requires a deep rethink of the current education systems and renewed emphasis on employee development, and the EY Young Technology Professional Challenge is such an initiative to address this objective.”

Tony Yeoh, Chief Executive Officer, Digital Penang said, “In our efforts to build a successful digital ecosystem, we welcome professional services companies such as EY to expand, provide services and create jobs in the area of digital and software services”.

Prizes for the EY YTPC Malaysia competition include prize money of up to RM 12,000 and internship opportunities or conditional offers of employment with EY member firms in Malaysia.
