For a number of organisations, corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes are ‘tick boxes’ which they feel compelled to undertake due to market expectations. However for the AVM Cloud Sdn Bhd (AVM) – Integrated Global Solutions Sdn Bhd (IGS) Group, CSR sits high on its list of corporate priorities and has become a part of its everyday working culture.

IGS CEO Ang Poh Koon explained that the Group operate on the philosophy that the Group is committed to ‘giving back’ to society and people in need and has inculcated such a culture so that employees become more ‘wholesome human beings’.

“Besides the pursuit of excellence in our core businesses coupled with our Group’s commitment to being an equal and fair employer, CSR is hugely important for us all to give back to society and the community at large,” said Ang.

“It’s a culture that has been inculcated for many decades and still lives on to this very day,” he added.

For example, the AVM-IGS Group recently played a big part in helping The Hope Branch run by Harith Iskander with his wife Dr Jezamine Lim.

The Hope Branch with his wife Dr Jezamine Lim in March 2020 at the beginning of the first lockdown. It was established to help Malaysians who were facing difficulties due to the Movement Control Oder (MCO), such as the plight of the homeless in getting food and PPVs for front liners and hospitals.

Even before that, the AVM-IGS Group had reached out to various charity organisations like old folks’ homes, handicap societies and orphanages to contribute in cash and kind. The Group has also helped out at animal shelters.

“We are also fortunate that our founders believe strongly in embarking on regular CSR activities due to their own personal convictions,” said Ang.
