Global enterprise applications software leader SAP today announced that it has opened a Solution Delivery Centre (SDC) in Kuala Lumpur, established to improve service delivery to large enterprises throughout Southeast Asia (SEA). This is the first SDC to be launched in SEA.
The newly-started SAP SDC in Kuala Lumpur is the 19th throughout the world and expected to increase cost-effectiveness and scalable service delivery while addressing customer proximity for enterprises employing SAP technologies within SEA.
A Springboard for the SEA Market
“Malaysia lies at the heart of SEA where there are various multinational companies (MNCs) from around the world already established and operating out of the country,” said SAP Malaysia Managing Director Duncan Williamson, citing the country’s robust infrastructure, strategic location within SEA coupled with the country’s dynamic business environment as contributors to the choice of location.
“The workforce here is young, educated and productive, proving to be one of the best in the region. Diversity is one of Malaysia’s greatest strengths, and a crucial factor in choosing Malaysia as the destination for our 19th SDC Center,” he said.
“Our objective is to provide SAP’s customers with access to the best global network of consultants with expertise in SAP’s latest technologies,” he added.
Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) CEO Datuk Yasmin Mahmood welcomed SAP’s investment, adding that the government will continue with ongoing efforts to make “Malaysia a destination of choice for the world’s leading technology companies.”
MDEC, which has been tasked with the role of “Championing Malaysia’s Digital Economy”, has been hard at work in laying the groundwork for Malaysia to become a premier technological hub in SEA.
“Malaysia has always served as a ‘springboard to ASEAN nations’ for MNCs, startups and entrepreneurs worldwide,” said Datuk Yasmin. “Located at the heart of ASEAN, Malaysia is able to connect businesses to a regional market of more than 625 million people.”
