ECS Wins Distributorship for HTC VIVE in Malaysia

ECS recently announced that it has been named as the exclusive distributor of the HTC VIVE VR platform in Malaysia. The first of its kind, HTC VIVE is built on the SteamVR platform and around the best VR hardware in the market. The device uses tracking technology that allow users to move in a three-dimensional space and use motion-tracked handheld controllers to interact with the environment for an immersive experience.

The VIVE ecosystem is supported by global platform, app store and subscription service VIVEPORT, a $100 million accelerator for VR and related technology start-up VIVE X as well as VR content development and publishing initiative VIVE Studios.

According to Soong, The new VR product and platform will enhance the company’s presence in the e-Sports initiative. He also added that to be able to do so with a system that is as highly regarded as the HTC VIVE is another feather in the cap for ECS.

The official launch of the VIVE VR System and VIVE Pro Starter Kit will allow Malaysian consumers to enjoy the best in VR experiences from 31 October 2018 onwards. ALso being introduced at the same time is VIVEPORT, which operates on the world’s first VR subscription model in more than 60 countries and has a curated library of more than 1,400 VR titles.

The VIVE VR System is priced at RM2,999 and customers who pre-order online and in-store from now till 31 December 2018 will be eligible for a free 3-month subscription to VIVEPORT. Pre-orders for the VIVE Pro Starter Kit, meanwhile, will be made available from the end of November 2018 onwards and include the latest professional-grade VIVE Pro Headset and SteamVR tracking 1.0 bundle consisting of two SteamVR base stations and two VIVE Controllers.
